Alphabet City is known as the bohemian center of East Village. This trendy and laid-back residential area got its name by being located within Avenues A, B, C, and D. It was the first home to the booming immigrant population in the early-1800’s. With most immigrants being German, Alphabet City soon became known as “Little Germany”. Hints of this German influx still shine through today. Between the borders of Avenues A and D, as well as East Houston and East 14th Streets, various bars and retail locations such as Macy’s and hip thrift stores line the streets. Not to mention, the colorful painted store sides appeal to the students, artists, and musicians in the area. There is office space in this neighborhood, but not when compared to other areas in NYC. This is due to the area being mostly residential. Transportation is simple – the M9, M21, and M14 buses are readily available. This city is a great place for those looking for office space for rent.
