Located right along the Hudson River, Battery Park City is home to upscale high-rise residential buildings with a calm, relaxed feel attached to it. Initially being coined as “Little Syria” due to the large population of Lebanese, Greek, and Armenian individuals, this soon changed in the 1950’s with the rise of a comprehensive housing, park, and light infrastructure-based community. Crew and Lord & Taylor are in the area, Battery Park City is more familiarly known for its waterside parks, playgrounds, and dog runs. On the weekends, residents flock to these areas for much-needed relaxation. Additionally, the historical significance of this area shines through due to the many museums and memorial sites here. Such include the Museum of Jewish Heritage, World Trade Center Memorial Foundation, and even a piece of the Berlin Wall. Easily get between West Street and Battery Park City Esplanade with a ride on the M20 bus or the Downtown Connection Bus.
