The neighborhood of Marble Hill is the northernmost area of the Manhattan borough. It’s the only town that is not located on the island itself. This was originally occupied by the Dutch, but in more recent times it gained its name because of the large number of marble deposits found layered underneath the ground. Because of Marble Hill’s location off the main island of Manhattan, it is frequently associated with the Bronx, though it is truly not. Marble Hill is located between the Bronx and Manhattan, and few retailers take advantage of this position. Some like Target and Taveras Food Center are here, but the mostly residential area makes it difficult for retailers to find ideal locations. Its central location means transportation is available. The 1 train, Hudson line is in the area, and so are the Bx7, Bx9, and Bx20 buses. Marble Hill is a great residential area, but few prime options for real estate exist.
