The New York City neighborhood of Sutton Place is located along the East River of Manhattan. In its early years, townhouse brownstones were constructed for residential purposes. Then, in the early 1920’s, Sutton Place began being seen as a wealthy and fashionable, thus it started housing the more well-off. Today, it is still largely residential with few retail spots like Duane Reade and Clairmont-Nichols. It has various eateries and restaurants, too, including Purple Cupcake, Le Pain Quotidien, and Pho Saigon. Transportation is limited with only an M57, M15, and M31 running within the borders of the East River, East 59^th and 53^rd Streets, and 1^st Avenue.
