Getting its name for encompassing all of the legal offices in southern Manhattan, Civic Center attracts tons of attention every day. It is roughly located between the barriers of Park Row, St. James Place, Broadway, and Baxter Street. Governmental activity is heightened here making it an attractive location for businesses who are in such industries. For example, New York City Hall, courthouses in Foley Square, and the Federal Bureau of Investigations field office is in this neighborhood. Few shopping and retail areas exist here due to the concentration of federal and state agencies, but you’ll find local drug stores for convenience. Transportation in the area, including the 4, 5, 6, and J trains, as well as the M22 and M15 buses, allow for easy access through the relatively small neighborhood.
