Downtown Manhattan, also known as Lower Manhattan, is the furthermost southern section of Manhattan. Popular neighborhoods like Seaport and SoHo are located here. In the past, this was the center of a prominent Dutch fur trading post. Following this time, the English conquered the area and it later grew as an economic center due to an increase in immigrants as well as agriculture markets. After modernization, major towers like 40 Wall Street and the Walworth Building were erected. Going from the Hudson River on the West and the East River all the way to East and West 14^th Street to the North, plenty of retail areas and corporate offices exist. For example, T.J. Max, Midtown Comics, Aldo, J. Crew, and Michael Kors are popular here. Office tenants include Municipal Credit Union, Lord & Taylor H.Q., Gap Inc., and MAC Cosmetics Corporation Offices. Downtown Manhattan is appealing for these businesses since its economically prosperous, popular, and it’s expanding. Since this is a large area of Manhattan, plenty of transportation is available. The 2 through 6 trains, as well as the J, A, C, F, J, L, N, Q, R and W trains are in the area. Along with trains, there are many buses including the popular M21, M55. There are many more transportation options along with these, though. Downtown Manhattan is a great location for people and businesses who desire diversity and growth.
