More commonly recognized as the newly coined Financial District, the Insurance District is located below City Hall Park in Manhattan. In the 20th century, the area was called the Insurance District due to it being packed with many headquarters for insurance companies. Since then, this has expanded from just insurance to various financial institutions, thus the name change. Here, you’ll find important institutions like the New York Stock Exchange and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Other companies include Staples, Zara, and T.J. Maxx. Transportation is readily available, too – the 1, 2, 3, E, M, N, R, and W trains are here, as are plenty of bus options.
