One of the northernmost neighborhoods of Manhattan is Washington Heights. Named after Fort Washington during the American Revolution, this area between Harlem River Drive, the Hudson River, West 155th Street, and Fort George Avenue was used to establish an offensive position during the war. Over time, the woods that were once here were chopped down to make room for residential housing. This has persisted over time and now Washington Heights is still largely residential but does have a significant number of retail storefronts. For example, Staples, UP NYC, Rite Aid, and Game Stop are just a few of them. Additionally, corporate offices for the NYSDOT and Global Atlantic Financial Group are within the neighborhood of Washington Heights. Travelling to this area is never an issue, as there is an abundance of public trains and buses available. Some of them include the 1, A, and C trains, as well as the M100, M3, M4, and M5 buses. Washington Heights is a top location for those looking to appeal to a mainly residential neighborhood. Look at the area of Washington Heights here using Google Maps.
