Considered a smaller neighborhood inside the neighborhood of Greenwich Village is West Village. As the name suggests, it’s on the western side of Manhattan and is bordered by the Hudson River, 6th Avenue, and West Houston and 14th Streets. West Village grew from being part of Greenwich Village to being considered an urban bohemia. Today, this trendy and fashionable location draws the attention of a hip and younger generation. Retail sites like Tiziano Zorzan, Intermix, and Diptyque certainly picked up on this and opened their stores here. Corporate offices of the Salvation Army and Kiehl’s also opened their workplaces here. Because it’s considered part of such a large neighborhood, public transportation is readily available. The 1, 2, 3, and Path Trains run through West Village, as do the M20 and M8 buses. Overall, West Village is a great spot for higher-end and trendier storefronts.
